However, Chelsea have won four of their last five meetings with Barnsley in all competitions, including a 6-0 home win in the League Cup earlier this season.

Barnsley have won both of their FA Cup meetings with Chelsea, winning 4-0 in the third round in 1989 and 1-0 in the quarter-final in 2008. 

Meanwhile, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel makes 10 changes to the side that started in the 2-1 Premier League victory over Sheffield United on Sunday. Only Christensen keeps his place in the side as the German rotates heavily. Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner are all struggling with injuries and do not make the squad.

Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael makes just one change following his side’s 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Saturday. Frieser drops to the bench, with Adeboyejo replacing him on the wing. Aapo Halme, Liam Kitching, Mike Bahre and Ben Williams are all absent due to injury.
